Greetings from California. We have some exciting news to share.
Watches, while a somewhat predictable bedfellow to cars in our shared universe, have been a passion of mine since I first saw the ‘Heuer Chronograph’ logo on the Ferrari Grand Prix cars in the early 1970s (about the same time I was falling for the Porsche 911).
Consequently, and for a number of years now, the itch to fashion a ‘proper’ new watch – not a frippery or a branding exercise but something of, dare I say it, ‘importance’ has been a nagging obsession of mine.
Well, the universe looked kindly on this obsession and the product of two years’ intense collaboration, development and neurotic consideration has become a reality as we not only launch a new timepiece but also a new high-watchmaking company, based in the spiritual home of horology – Geneva, Switzerland.
The dream was to reimagine the sporting chronographs of the 1960s and ‘70s in a manner that celebrated their magnificence but brought a profound new sense of priority to the way in which elapsed time – the essence of a chronograph – was presented.
The reality is a timepiece we are extremely proud of and one we hope is the first of many creative journeys within this noble industry.

Singer Vehicle Design was founded in 2009 to explore the creative possibilities within the vibrant world of the classic automobile.
We are dedicated to the passionate study, preservation and optimization of the world’s most respected high performance vehicles through modern techniques and unique and fresh perspectives.
Since 2009 our focus – indeed obsession – has been the development of a meticulously restored and optimized air-cooled 911. Our lofty objective: to distill, enhance and recombine the strands of greatness that have long marked the 911 as iconic.
To this historical DNA we add modern techniques and unique perspective. In true collaboration with our clients, the result is a singular jewel-like form. A love letter to a golden air-cooled era restored, reimagined and reborn over more than four thousand hours.
Singer Vehicle Design is driven by the singular vision of Rob Dickinson- an ex car designer who then became a rock musician who now stands as one of the worlds foremost distillers of the essence of air cooled Porsche.
Journalist Michael Harley and Dickinson tell the story, while an all-star cast of automotive writers, journalists, and personalities offer their perspectives on the Singer phenomenon.
Throughout the book some of the finest photographers in the automotive world, with unparalleled access to Singer’s operations, reveal the sublime beauty of these Porsche 911s as they are restored, play at the track and run the open road.
Finessed and agonised over just like the cars, this large format, hardback, 276 page, full color, Singer Vehicle Design book tells the full story behind Restored, Reimagined, Reborn for the first time.
