Job overview:

The Corporate Controller, working closely with and reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, is responsible for the company’s financial accounting practices and policies, the maintenance of fiscal records, and the preparation of financial reports for Singer’s global operations. The successful candidate in this new role will bring outstanding business acumen and a hands on approach to help the team build the right systems and processes necessary to meet Singer’s growing needs.

Responsibilities:
  • Management responsibility for a department of six which includes accounts payable and general accounting and includes staff based at the corporate headquarters in Torrance, CA as well as a regional operation in the United Kingdom
  • Responsible for all accounting and financial reporting activities
  • Responsible for the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process and related activities including the consolidation of multiple US and Foreign entities in multiple currencies
  • Responsible for all aspects of the annual audit and tax preparation
  • Ensure company-wide adherence to corporate and accounting policies and procedures
  • Coordinating and recording investments and maintaining fixed asset records
  • Evaluating and enhancing financial controls and tax return procedures
  • Documenting processes and ensuring compliance with financial management and accounting regulations
  • Assist in implementation of general ledger and financial reporting systems and the structure and maintenance of those systems
  • Monitors and confirms financial condition by conducting audits and providing information to external auditors
  • Coordinate ad-hoc reporting and analysis requests
  • This position will be instrumental in recommending and developing enhanced policies, procedures, systems improvements, and will participate in a variety of special financial projects.
Qualifications:
  • 7 to 12 years of gradually increasing accounting experience
  • 5+ years management/supervisor/Controller experience
  • Mid-size public or private company experience
  • Manufacturing accounting experience is a plus as is experience in a multinational operation
  • Prepared to work very hands-on
  • CPA a must
  • Computer skills – Microsoft products, advanced Excel skills is very important
  • Ability to handle tight deadlines, prioritize workload and achieve effective results in a fast-paced, dynamic, ever-growing and often ambiguous environment; effective multi-tasking and organizational skills are vital
  • A proactive, self-directed approach and the ability to learn quickly
