Job overview:

The Manufacturing Engineer, Chassis Repair and Fabrication is responsible for chassis repair and fabrication in preparation for body panel fitment to the Porsche 964 chassis. This is a dynamic position that requires the ability to create and manage project timelines while driving improvement in all areas with a focus on safety, quality, cost, and delivery. As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will define manufacturing planning templates, own process definition, adhere to quality standards, and drive cost reduction initiatives. You will also drive the creation of lean parts and process flow through production resources. The Engineer will also champion and implement processes and resources to help bring in a new facility online in a manner that demonstrates, “Everything is Important.”

Responsibilities:
  • Supports day-to-day production of the Singer Vehicles and components together with technicians, quality, supply chain
  • Develops, educates, updates, and improves standards for items within the assigned scope
  • Develops and maintains manufacture and test planning for processes, products, and integration
  • Develops and optimizes production processes in alignment with labor cost targets
  • Develops and qualifies new processes to take products from design to production
  • Implements process improvement methodologies and tools (ex. value stream mapping, problem-solving, visual management, etc.) to reduce manufacturing build hours and quality issues, increase production rates, and remove waste from processes across multiple departments
  • Creates and manages manufacturing BOMs, work instructions, and specifications
  • Identifies, plans, and executes capital equipment, machine, and layout upgrades to meet production demand
  • Analyzes and dispositions manufacturing discrepancies and interface with the quality team on root cause analysis and corrective actions
  • Creates and or improve Preventative Maintenance plans for tools, tooling, shop aids, equipment, and facilities for resources within the assigned scope
  • Create standards and inspection criteria for the outsourcing of products
  • Perform Process Failure Mode effects analysis (PFMEAs) for operations within the assigned scope
Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in industrial, mechanical, or manufacturing engineering
  • 1+ years in manufacturing or process engineering in a body shop and/or fabrication production environment
  • Experience with automotive chassis fabrication
  • Good understanding of BOMs, manufacturability, process design, process validation, assembly methods, design reviews and cost reduction methodologies
  • Strong understanding of statistics to identify critical process parameters
  • Experience with industrial equipment design and operation
  • Sheetmetal, steel or other metal fabrication, forming, punching, shearing, sawing, welding, etc.
  • Experience working in a production/manufacturing or operations environment with emphasis on manufacturing planning, material flow, and process improvement
  • Demonstrated results using lean principles, VSM, 5S, etc.
  • Root Cause and Corrective Action experience
  • Prior CNC or manual machining experience is a plus
Skills, Abilities and Attributes
  • Strong mechanical intuition and extensive hands-on experience modifying jigs, fixtures, and coordinating equipment installations
  • Proficient working with SQL, Excel, or similar data analysis software
  • Possesses strong presentation skills and communicates clearly and professionally at various levels both inside and outside the company
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Catia, Sketchup, Jira
  • Experience bringing teams and processes from a development phase to full production
  • Extensive detailed material flow analysis experience to make data-influenced decisions and summarize results to present from techs on the floor to leadership
  • Experience designing greenfield facility layouts and/or material flow strategy
