Naturally aspirated 4.0L flat six | Double wishbone front suspension | Carbon fiber bodywork shaped by computational fluid dynamics
Just how great could a naturally aspirated, classic 911 be when restored with technology from the highest levels of motorsport? We undertook DLS in response to this question from clients.
The results enabled owners to celebrate Porsche’s heritage, drawing inspiration from the most sports-focused F-model 911s of the early ‘70s, while reimagining their performance and capability for the twenty-first century. Each restoration is unique and begins with the owner’s Type 964 Porsche 911.
Goodwood Festival of Speed (July 9 - 12) - DLS services can be seen at Singer's Stand in front of the Stableyard and on the Central Feature Sculpture in front of Goodwood House
Each Porsche 911 reimagined through Singer’s DLS services features the ultimate, naturally aspirated evolution of the original 964 Mezger flat-six engine, restored and developed by Singer in collaboration with Williams Advanced Engineering. The result is a 4.0L flat-six that remains naturally aspirated, capable of 500HP at over 9000 RPM. Air is fed to the engine via integrated quarter glass ram-air intakes.
The entire powerplant has been positioned slightly forward when compared to the original 964 powertrain for better weight distribution. Inside, four-valve cylinder technology and extensive use of magnesium and other advanced materials further enhance the restored powerplant. An exclusive Inconel & titanium exhaust system has been specified.

The process begins when the owner of a Type 964 Porsche 911 sends their car to Singer with the request to carry out a personalized restoration. The owner’s car is carefully disassembled. The interior is removed, as is the exterior bodywork and all mechanical components, until the steel monocoque (chassis) is revealed. The chassis is painstakingly assessed, cleaned, augmented with chassis strengthening, and prepared so that it is in optimal condition for the next stages of the restoration.
The lightweight, aero-optimized carbon fiber bodywork integrated with the chassis of the owner’s car has been shaped by computational fluid dynamics, enhancing overall stiffness while offering weight savings. Power delivery is optimized thanks to bespoke driving modes developed with Bosch. Handling dynamics are improved through the use of a proprietary multi-link, double wishbone front suspension, lightweight rear trailing arms and bespoke, mass-optimized dampers with remote adjustment. Fuchs-style BBS centerlock wheels are now made from magnesium and wrapped in Michelin Sport Cup 2 tires. Braking is handled by Brembo CCM-R Carbon Ceramic rotors with monoblock calipers.
